Think on this declaration from Peter in Acts 2: 32-33, âGod has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God.â
Friends, have you ever asked yourself this exact question: Is God really in charge ⊠you may be surprised with the answer đ€
IN FACT, this bold declaration Peter, actually answers it for us. Jesus is King NOW. Boom! đ„ This was the unanimous declaration of the early church and, I think, the basic meaning the âMillenniumâ of Johnâs Revelation. So, thatâs exactly what I want to point out to you today.
If you remember from our discussion last week, the âMillenniumâ was the ancient Jewish idea that the Messiah would reign on the earth for the final season of history. Certainly, throughout church history there has been speculation that this âMillenniumâ would take place AFTER Jesusâ bodily return as he literally reigns from the earthly city of Jerusalem.
On the other hand, Peter, here, quite literally sees Jesus as reigning NOW, until he returns one day bodily. Thatâs what the imagery of the âright handâ means. Thatâs what the word âascensionâ means. Itâs means Jesus inherited a Kingdom from his Father and heâs ruling from heaven over all the nations of the earth right now đ
In other words, Iâm saying it seems to me that we are in the midst of Jesusâ âmillennialâ reign. And during this season, Jesus is conquering the nations through the churchâs work of Gospel proclamation. Think on it friends and answer these questions:
Do you think Jesus Millennial Kingdom is now?
What affirmations/objections do you have?
What might your job be in Gospel proclamation?
