“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out!” Acts 3:19
Hey friends đź‘‹
We’re continuing through Acts—so open your Bible and study along with me 📖
A man who had been lame from birth has just been healed in the name of Jesus ✨
The crowd is amazed.
But Peter immediately redirects their attention.
Verses 11–12:
As people gather around in wonder, Peter asks:
“Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?” 👀
Peter refuses to take the credit.
The miracle wasn’t about Peter.
It was about Jesus. ✝️
Verses 13–15:
Peter points to Christ:
“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob … has glorified his servant Jesus.” 📖
Then he delivers a hard truth.
“You handed him over to be killed …” ⚠️
“You killed the author of life!”
But in comes the hope:
“God raised him from the dead!” 🔥
The resurrection remains central to Peter’s message.
Verse 16:
“It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him.” 💪
The power was never in a formula.
The power was always in Jesus.
Verses 17–18:
Peter acknowledges that they acted in ignorance.
Yet even through human failure, God fulfilled what He had foretold through the prophets 📜
Once again, we see God’s faithfulness at work.
Verses 19–20:
This is the heart of Peter’s message:
“Repent, then, and turn to God…” ❤️
“So that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” 🌿
What a promise.
Not just forgiveness.
Refreshing.
Renewal.
Restoration.
Verses 22–23:
Peter then quotes Deuteronomy 18:15, written by Moses roughly 1,400 years earlier ⏳
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me…”
Peter declares that Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise.
Verses 24–26
From Samuel onward, the prophets pointed forward to Christ. đź“–đź‘‘
And Peter concludes by saying God sent Jesus to bless them:
“by turning each of you from your wicked ways.” ✨
Acts 3 reminds us that the gospel is not simply about what Jesus can do for us. It’s about turning to Him. ✝️
When we repent and place our faith in Christ our sins are forgiven, our hearts are renewed and times of refreshing come from the Lord 🕊️
The same Jesus who healed the lame man still has the power to transform lives today 🔥
