"IN SIX DAYS the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them." Exodus 20:11
Hello friends! Letās dive into a topic that often gets brushed aside in mainstream discussions but is deeply relevant to how we understand both science and Scripture: carbon-14 dating.
Youāve probably heard the argument that dating methods āproveā the Earth is MILLIONS of years old. But here's the issueāwhen people say that, theyāre usually not talking about carbon-14. In fact, carbon-14 dating canātĀ support an old-earth model. Scientifically speaking, carbon-14 has a maximum shelf life. It breaks down relatively quickly and, under ideal conditions, can only remain in organic materials for about 100,000 years.
So here's the question: why do we still find carbon-14 in coal, oil, diamonds, and even dinosaur bones? These materials are assumed to be tens or hundreds of millions of years old, yet they still contain measurable amounts of carbon-14. That shouldn't be possible if the earth is as old as the evolutionary model claims.
Scripture tells a very different storyāa young earth created by God in six LITERAL days (Genesis 1), a world radically reshaped by a global flood in the days of Noah (Genesis 6ā9), and a creation that is groaning under the weight of sin (Romans 8:22). If the fossil record was largely laid down by that flood, as the Bible suggests, then the presence of carbon-14 in these fossils makes perfect sense.
And letās be honestāthis is not a fringe argument. It's observable. It's measurable. And it puts pressure on the idea that the Earth is billions of years old. For those who hold to the authority of Scripture, this kind of evidence reinforces what the Bible has already made clear: the Earth is not as ancient as the world says it is.
We must always be willing to test what we hearāwhether from the classroom, the media, or the pulpitāagainst both the Word of God and observable science. When the two align, truth becomes undeniable.
So what do we do with this? We stay rooted in Scripture, remain curious, and boldly engage the world with both faith and facts.

And if youāve missed earlier clips, go back and catch up! We have been walking through the evidence, and itās eye-opening.
So⦠what do you think?
Could the presence of carbon-14 in 'ancient' fossils be evidence of a much younger Earth?
What implications does that have for how we understand God's timeline and the authority of the Bible?
