“When King Herod heard this he was DISTURBED, and all Jerusalem with him.” Matthew 2:3
Merry Christmas friends! 🎄and WELCOME to part one of my new series called “Christmas Collisions!” Over the next few weeks, we’re going to watch real people REACT with the news that the King of Kings had just been born in Bethlehem. Some bowed low 👑, some ran for their lives 🏃♂️, and some … well, some lost their minds with rage. 😡
Enter King Herod the Great.
This guy had palaces, armies, and a crown that screamed “I’m in charge!” 👑 Then one night some wise men from the East stroll in and casually ask, “Where’s the new King of the Jews? We saw His star and came to worship.” 🌟
Boom. 💥
The Bible says Herod was “DISTURBED” — the Greek word literally means “shaken to the core.” Picture a grown man turning red, slamming his fist on the throne, veins popping, screaming, “Another king?! There’s only room for ONE king around here — and you’re looking at him!” 😤
He was so threatened by a BABY that he ordered every little boy in Bethlehem under two years old murdered. That’s how much Herod HATED Jesus before Jesus ever said a word. Why? Because the King of all creation came to take the throne of every human heart and to become Lord of the whole world at that — Herod, therefore, wanted to keep his own power locked up tight for himself. But what do you think? 🤔❤️
Is there any area of your life where King Jesus is knocking, but you’re still gripping the throne, saying “MINE”?
What would it look like this Christmas to open the door wide and let the real King rule?
