It's a DOPE Deal

Verse for the Week: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew then to the Gentile."Romans 1:16

Study Reference for Small Groups: Romans 3:21

Have you ever been complimented with the word DOPE? If you have, then consider yourself officially cool! It’s really interesting because trends seem to be changing rapidly in culture today. Something deemed as “dope” or “fresh” can be seen as a thing of the past in 6 months or less. But there’s one thing that has remained constant and that’s the Gospel! In Romans 3, we see the apostle Paul delivering a DOPE message to the church of Ancient Rome. He talks about how apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known. There’s no longer any barrier that has to be dismantled in order to have an intimate relationship with God. How DOPE is that?! Think about it- it doesn’t matter where you come from or the type of road you’ve been down in your life up to this very moment. Whether you’re rich or poor, famous or unknown, cool or uncool. The Bible tells us that we all fall short of Gods glory and the only way to be saved is through loving Jesus with everything we have. There’s a lot of controversy that comes with following Christ. A lot of people today think it’s enough to be a good person and that alone will allow them to enter Heaven. But what we must realize is that, simply put, we’re not better than anyone else, no matter how much we think we are... “As long as I don’t commit a crime, I’m okay... As long as I give to charity, I’m good.” We need to accept Jesus as the Messiah and redeemer of our lives. Only then can we be called children of God.So, I encourage you to accept the DOPE deal that’s been offered through Christ Jesus. Is it worth banking on your own deeds in this life to be measured as good enough when it’s all said and done? Personally, not for me. But Jesus can assure us security and true joy from simply putting our faith in him! If you ask me, that’s the DOPEST thing anyone could ever do for us.

Application:

How DOPE did you feel when you discovered the Gospel of Jesus?

What can you do to help others experience the same feeling?

How are you actively expressing your faith in Jesus to those who haven't had that DOPE feeling?
