āHe himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.ā 1 Peter 2:24
Friends, Iāve got something BIG to share with you today ā Iāve begun an in-depth study of ISLAM š± and hereās the MOST important observation Iāve made ā¦
As Christians, our faith is anchored in the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as clearly captured in 1 Peter 2:24, along with the ENTIRE witness of the New Testament. This truth is CENTRAL to our assurance of salvation and our identity as children of God. However, as Iāve begun studying Islam, Iāve discovered a critical difference: Islam teaches that Jesus was not crucified and did NOT die š³ ⦠This claim challenges the core of our faith, and itās why I believe every Christian should study Islam to better understand and engage with this growing global faith.
In recent decades, weāve seen a collision of cultures, particularly between Christendom and Islam. For those of us raised in places like the Midwest United States, interactions with Muslims may be new š¤ but theyāre increasingly common. Iāve had meaningful conversations with Muslim friends, and while they express love for Jesus, their understanding differs SIGNIFICANTLY. They view Jesus as a prophet, not the crucified Savior who died for our sins.
This claim raises a MAJOR historical and theological problem: If Jesus didnāt die, as Islam claims, it contradicts the prophetic fulfillment of the Old Testament and the New Testamentās eyewitness accounts, written by the very people who witnessed š the events!
Hereās my point, by studying Islam, we can better articulate why we believe in Jesusā death and resurrection. The Quran, written 600 years AFTER Jesus, claims the Bible is corrupted, yet relies on its stories. This logical disconnect, coupled with historical questions about the Quranās preservation and Muhammadās life, strengthens our appreciation for the Bibleās reliability. As Christians, we must be equipped šŖ to share the GOSPEL with clarity and love ā¤ļø especially in a world where ideas like Sharia law are gaining traction, often clashing with Biblical values of human dignity and freedom.
