🤨 Millennial Kingdom Origin?

“A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.” Psalm 90:4

Hello friends! As you already know, I’m talking all things end-times and if you’re interested in your own DEEP DIVE, you can get a copy of my book “End-Times? MISSION” linked 👇

Today, I’m continuing on the topic of the MILLENNIUM (aka Jesus’ earthly kingdom described in Revelation 20). It’s described as a time where Christ will reign on the earth with his saints for 1,000 years.

Did you know this entire concept actually finds itself rooted in ancient Jewish literature found among the Dead Sea Scrolls like the Book of Jubilees. That’s right. And the early Christians along with the authors of Scripture like Peter, John, Jude and the author of Hebrews (probably Paul) actually read these texts because they cite them regularly.

In fact, our opening Scripture in Psalm 90 was seen as the key to understanding all of earth’s history in light of the seven days of creation. In other words, history would unfold over the course of seven “millenniums” — the last of which would be characterized by the reign of Messiah on the earth.

Here’s the actual quote from Jubilees (given to Moses on Sinai) about how Adam’s lifespan of 930 years, was the equivalent of “one day” since God said in Genesis 2:17, he would “die” on the “day” he ate the apple:

“[Adam] lacked 70 years from 1000 years because 1000 years are one day in the testimony of heaven. For this reason, it was written regarding the tree of knowledge: ‘On the day that you eat from it you will die.’ Therefore, he did not complete the years of this day because he died during it” (Jubilees 4:30).

This belief is called Millennial Day Theory and it was held by MANY early Christians including the spiritual grandson of the Apostle John named Irenaeus. 🤔

My point in saying this is it seems only logical that it was the whole point of John’s Revelation that the time of Christ’s reign in NOW. This understanding also seems to be supported by the Gospel proclamation of the early church that Christ was seated at God’s right hand and that a time of judgment was upon those who don’t believe in him. Think on it friends 😀

Application:

Do you believe Jesus’ Kingdom is now?

What might this “millennial kingdom” mean to you if it is a present reality?

How can you walk in boldness today because Jesus is King?
