Your ONLY Shot

Verse for the Week: "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."Luke 11:9

Study Reference for Small Groups: Ephesians 2:11-13

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to take the last shot? My favorite part of a basketball game is in the 4th quarter… There is 3 seconds left and that one person is set up to take the last shot of the game! The anticipation is intoxicating. There are only two outcomes that can take place: the ball is either going in or it is going to miss its mark. But- think about the guts it takes to launch that ball, knowing you’re going to be celebrated for making it or potentially mocked for missing. In Ephesians 2:11-13, we’re given the hope that we so desperately desire everyday of our lives; that once we were so far away from God, but through the blood of Christ we are brought near to Him. The God of the universe and creator of every single thing is near to us! We can find peace and joy that surpasses our earthly understanding and see what an incredible gift we’ve been given! I encourage you right now to take your ONLY shot. That feeling you’ve been having recently? Something tugging on your heart? Take that shot, whatever it may be, and expect to see victory in Jesus Christ! In this game of life, he has already won. There is no more wondering what the outcome will be or running through all of those “what if” scenarios. There is no more defeat. Even death itself can’t beat you. There is only victory and everlasting life! So- make like Nike and just do it!

Application:

What’s holding you back from taking your shot with God?

How can you overcome what’s holding you back?

How can you encourage others to step out and take their shot?
