âFaith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ.â Romans 10:17
Â
How on earth are yâall doinâ friends?! Todayâs message is SO special Iâm breaking out my FAKE southern accent in writing! So, in light of that, Iâd like to ask you this question: Have you ever heard of Calvinism? If so, what do you know or think đ€Â about it?
Â
A lot of people associate that word with the Biblical idea of âpredestinationâ but thereâs a little more to it than that âŠ.
Â
In FACT, if youâre interested in the topic (or would just like to learn a little more), watch my NEW VIDEO linked below đđđ
Â
What many people donât realize is that the whole topic goes a little deeper than the topic of predestination. And as far as Calvinists go, thereâs another important theological question they seek to answer: âWhere does FAITH come from?â
Â
Have you ever thought about that before? We all know that we are saved by faith and that faith is not a work. Yet, if youâre like me, you realize you didnât just WAKE UP one day and âdecideâ to follow Jesus ⊠my apologies to the old hymn writer đ€Ș
Â
Calvinism answers this question by saying âregeneration (or being born again) PRECEDES faith.â For example, if you look at the verse we began with, you see that two things produce faith: 1) Gospel proclamation (the Word of Christ in the context of Romans 10) and a new spiritual nature (âhearingâ the Gospel internally). From this concept, flow all five points of Calvinism, including the idea that you canât lose your salvation!
Â
I hope that helps or at least makes you think a little this week! Happy Jesus Day (Sunday) yâall!!
Â
Application:
What do you know about Calvinism?
Â
Have you ever thought about how miraculous your salvation is?
Â
What do you think about the idea that God produces faith in you?
