“God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.”
— Acts 2:32 (NIV)
Hey friends 👋
We’re continuing through Acts — so open your Bible and study along with me 📖
Peter is still preaching at Pentecost, and now he turns to King David. 👑
Why?
Because the crowd respected David deeply.
He was Israel’s greatest king and the one God promised would have a throne established forever 📜
Verses 29–31:
Peter says plainly:
“David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.” ⚰️
In other words — David could not have ultimately been speaking about himself in Psalm 16.
Why?
Because David saw decay.
Jesus did not ✨
Peter explains that David was “a prophet” who knew God had promised that one of his descendants would sit on his throne 👑
This points back to God’s covenant with David in 2 Samuel 7:12–13, written roughly 1,000 years earlier ⏳
The Messiah would come through David’s lineage.
And Peter declares:
Jesus is that King 👑
Verse 32: “God has raised this Jesus to life…” 🔥
Not symbolic.
Not metaphorical.
Resurrected!
And Peter says:
“We are all witnesses of it” 👀
Then Peter points upward …
Verses 33–35: Jesus was “exalted to the right hand of God” ⬆️
Peter then quotes Psalm 110:1, another Psalm of David written nearly 1,000 years earlier: “The Lord said to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.’” 📖
David was speaking about someone greater than himself.
The Messiah.
The exalted King.
Verse 36: “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah” ✝️
This is Peter’s conclusion:
Jesus is not just a teacher.
Not just a prophet.
He is the risen King promised throughout Scripture 👑
This week's scripture reminds us that Jesus fulfills what God promised across generations 📜
The promised Son of David came.
He died.
He rose.
And now He reigns 👑
