“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit?’” Acts 5:3
Hey friends 👋
We’re back in our Acts study—so open your Bible and study along with me 📖
Acts 5 begins with a sobering account of Ananias and Sapphira.
It isn’t ultimately about money.
It’s about truth.
Verses 1–2:
Ananias and Sapphira sell a piece of property 🏠
But Luke tells us they “kept back part of the money” while pretending to give the full amount.
The issue wasn’t that they kept some.
The issue was that they lied...
Verses 3–4:
Peter asks: “Why has Satan so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit…?” ⚠️
Then he says: “You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” ✝️
Their sin wasn’t generosity withheld.
It was hypocrisy embraced.
Verses 5–10:
Both Ananias and Sapphira face God’s judgment.
This is one of the most sobering moments in Acts.
It reminds us that God is not only loving and merciful—
He is also holy 👑
Verse 11: “Great fear seized the whole church…” 🙏
The early believers were reminded that God sees what people cannot.
Nothing is hidden from Him.
Acts 5 reminds us that God isn’t looking for a polished image.
He’s looking for an honest heart ❤️
We may fool people.
We may protect our reputation.
But we cannot hide from God!
The good news is that when we come to Him in truth, we also find grace 🕊️
Let’s be people whose public lives and private hearts match.
Because God delights in truth
integrity and wholehearted devotion 👑
