āThen they all joined together constantly in prayer.ā Acts 1:14 (NIV)
Hey friends š
As we continue through Acts, Iād encourage youāfollow along in your Bible and study this with me in your own time with the Lord š
The disciples have just watched Jesus ascend. ā¬ļø
Heās alive. Heās exalted š
And He told them to wait.
So what do they do while they wait? They pray š
Verse 14: Luke says they were āconstantly in prayer.ā Not occasionally. Not casually. Constantly. š„
Before the Spirit falls in Acts 2 ⦠before the Church begins to move ⦠the people of God are found praying šļø
Waiting on God is not passive. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is stay in prayer while you wait ā³š
Then the passage shifts. Peter addresses Judas ā a man who walked with Jesus, yet chose another path.
Verse 18: Judas acquired a field āwith the reward of his wickednessā¦ā ā ļø
Wickedness always leads somewhere. And it never leads anywhere good.
Then in verses 21ā26, the disciples move to replace him. And they donāt treat leadership lightly. They establish clear qualifications. š
The next apostle must be one who had ābeen with us the whole timeā and become āa witness with us of his resurrection.ā šāļø
Because in the kingdom of God, leadership is not about charisma! Itās about faithfulness. Not popularity. Not gifting alone.
Character.
Consistency.
Proven witness. šŖ
And after identifying the candidates, they pray again. š
āLord, you know everyoneās heart.ā ā¤ļø
Even in leadership decisions, they refuse to trust appearances alone. They seek God. šļø
Acts 1:12ā26 teaches us two things clearly: Prayer is how the Church prepares. š
Faithfulness is how the Church leads. š
When others choose compromise ā God still raises up faithful people. š„
So, keep praying while you wait.
And pursue the kind of character
God can trust with influence. āļøš£
